Art exhibition: We Will Dance Again is a poster-campaign, by HKU-Graduate James Whistler, that marks the importance of club culture and fights for the club as a safespace for communities and a designspace for the creative scene. Exhibition starting 27-02-2022 at WNKL!

James Whistler graduated last year as graphic designer at the University of the Arts Utrecht. For his graduation he started a project to highlight the importance of the club culture. A sector that had the hardest time of most sectors during the pandemic. James gave them a voice through his poster campaign, resonating with the early 80s & 90s raveflyer culture.

The poster series contains many visual and substantive references to the visual language of club culture throughout the years. From the rise of acid posters and rave flyers in the early days of the 1980s to the worldwide explosion of this movement in the 1990s. "By using the analog canvases of flyers and posters, I want to create an ode to nightlife by sketching the beauty of this scene without losing respect for the old-fashioned aesthetics. A visual journey through the role of graphic design within clubculture." - James Whistler
Texel doesn't have a real club culture but the young creatives on the island long for more nightlife activities on the island. A place to meet, connect, create and escape. Therefore we hope James his exhibition at WNKL will have a positive impact on our island culture.

We will give James Whistler poster campaign a prominent spot on our brick-wall. Their will be 12 A4 posters filling the shop wall. The exhibition will be opened on Sunday the 27th of February with DJ's and drinks, be there! We have a small amount of posters for sale, you snooze... you lose...
